5 Tips to Light Up Your Office
Lighting affects everything about your office space, from its vibe to your productivity, and everything in between! Check out these tips to ensure your office space incorporates light efficiently and effectively.
Natural light is optimal
Did you know that office workers with access to natural light are more alert during their work day than those with artificially lit offices? If possible, place your workstation at a 90-degree angle to get the best warm and natural lighting possible!
Avoid Glare
When a light source enters your line of sight directly or via reflection it’s called glare. Glare can strain your eyes and lead to headaches. To combat glare in its many forms, add blinds to windows, invest in adjustable light fixtures, and don’t place your monitor directly beneath light.
Try out a desk lamp
If you have the available space, a desk lamp can be a great addition to your desk both stylistically and functionally! An adjustable desk lamp can direct light exactly where it’s needed, and disperse natural shadows that might obscure parts of your workstation.
Adjust the tint of your monitor
For many office workers, a great deal of their time working is spent staring into monitors—that’s right, your monitor is one of the most important sources of light in your office space! Try yellow tinting your monitor to help reduce blue light emissions and limit eye strain.
Try accent lighting
Fairy lights, LED strips, and backlit signs are all tools that can be employed to add effective accent lighting to your space. You can create an under glow for your shelves or within a dark drawer. You can also add a perimeter glow behind your desktop monitor or television. These accent lights can elevate a space in addition to serving as a secondary light source!
